Having been reduced in rank, South Church became the headquarters yf the society of Stnoseph, whose members ran the Wan Sheng Hospital.

• 1860年，南堂又行开堂，重加修葺，但此后主教座堂即迁移到北堂，南堂降为普通本堂。南堂也成了管理万生医院的若瑟会的总部。
